- Calacanis separately disclosed a TAO holding while favoring AI investment.
Technology investor and podcast host Jason Calacanis says Bitcoin will never set another all-time high and predicts a return to $57,000 within 12 months. He urged holders to sell and shift their attention to artificial intelligence.
His October 27 post drew a response from Strategy founder Michael Saylor, who argued that AI’s productive potential and Bitcoin’s scarcity serve different, complementary purposes.

A $57,000 Forecast and a Call to Switch
Calacanis expects withdrawals from Bitcoin exchange-traded funds to continue. He treats those flows as a warning about demand and argues that investors have more productive opportunities elsewhere.
His criticism goes beyond a price target. He says Bitcoin has lost the cultural momentum that once encouraged people to own it, and questions the value of a network whose main attraction, in his view, is storing wealth.
He presents AI as the alternative: a technology already delivering useful applications and capable of creating much more value. His conclusion is that investors should redirect resources toward that opportunity.
Those are Calacanis’s investment judgments. The post does not provide a valuation model or a calculation connecting ETF flows to $57,000, and its permanent ceiling on Bitcoin’s price is a prediction rather than an established outcome.
Saylor Sees Complementary Roles
In his reply, Saylor wrote: “AI creates abundance. Bitcoin enforces scarcity.” He argued that one expands humanity’s ability to generate value while the other helps preserve and transfer it over time and across borders.
That answer disputes the idea that investors must choose one technology’s success over the other. It does not give a competing near-term price target.
The distinction follows Saylor’s earlier ParaFi discussion, in which he described AI as competition for investment capital while arguing that greater abundance could strengthen the appeal of scarce assets over the longer term.
Calacanis Still Holds an AI-Linked Crypto Token
Calacanis’s proposed shift does not extend to every cryptocurrency. In a separate follow-up, he disclosed that he is long TAO and praised Bittensor’s focus on scaling AI. He did not state the size of that holding.
The exchange places two views of technology investing side by side: Calacanis favors capital flowing toward AI applications, while Saylor sees a continuing role for Bitcoin alongside them.
