Key Notes
- Coinbase highlights live BTC, ETH and SOL prediction markets with 15-minute to daily trading windows.
- Access is limited to eligible United States residents and excludes Nevada and Michigan.
- Kalshi operates and resolves the markets, which are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets.
Coinbase is promoting live crypto prediction markets that let eligible U.S. customers take positions on Bitcoin, Ether and Solana prices over periods ranging from 15 minutes to a day. The contracts offer a way to trade an expected price outcome without buying the underlying cryptocurrency.
In an October 25 announcement, the company highlighted BTC, ETH and SOL and the short trading windows. It did not announce a new country rollout or say those three assets were the platform’s complete crypto-market lineup.

The feature predates that message. Crypto Briefing reported the launch of short-duration crypto price markets on October 6, including BTC, ETH and SOL. The latest post therefore confirms and promotes an existing offering rather than establishing its first launch date.
A Contract on the Outcome, Not the Coin
These are event contracts: customers select an outcome to a defined question about a price at a particular time. That differs from a spot purchase, which gives the buyer a balance in BTC, ETH or SOL that can be held beyond a contract’s expiry.
A contract’s quoted price reflects the market’s implied probability of the outcome. For example, Coinbase’s guide describes a $0.65 contract as implying a 65% chance. That is a market assessment, not a guaranteed forecast.
The broader crypto directory also includes price-threshold questions and longer-dated events. The 15-minute-to-daily range in Coinbase’s announcement describes the products it chose to highlight, rather than every prediction contract available.
U.S. Eligibility and Dollar Funding
The contracts are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, while Kalshi operates the prediction markets as an independent, CFTC-regulated exchange. Coinbase’s help pages restrict access to U.S. residents, excluding Nevada and Michigan.
Customers must qualify for a Coinbase Financial Markets predictions account. The application process includes identity verification and a suitability review covering factors such as trading experience and financial circumstances. An ordinary Coinbase account alone does not establish eligibility.
Purchases use settled U.S. dollars or USDC. Coinbase shows fees before an order is placed. Trading is generally available around the clock, with exceptions including Thursday maintenance from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Eastern Time and other market or regulatory interruptions.
Settlement Rules Decide the Result
Kalshi resolves each market using the source and timing specified in its contract rules. The result can differ from a price displayed in the Coinbase app at a single instant, and Coinbase says it cannot manually override Kalshi’s resolution.
Short settlement windows make those definitions especially relevant: predicting the direction correctly at one moment does not necessarily satisfy a contract’s final conditions. Customers can lose the full amount committed to a prediction contract.
The offering extends Coinbase’s push beyond conventional crypto trading. CoinScreamer previously covered its agreement to acquire The Clearing Company, an earlier move to expand its prediction-market infrastructure.
