Uniswap Adds External DEX Liquidity With Aggregator Hooks

Key Notes

  • Aggregator Hooks connect seven liquidity sources on Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain.
  • The web app includes external routes automatically while the API offers opt-in Guidestar beta routing.
  • Uniswap Labs says external-route protocol fees contribute to UNI burns.

Uniswap has launched Aggregator Hooks, allowing its v4 trading system to draw on liquidity from other decentralized exchanges, including Curve, Fluid, and PancakeSwap.

The feature is live in the Uniswap web app and available through its API on the Ethereum mainnet, Base, and Robinhood Chain. Seven liquidity sources are supported at launch, according to Uniswap Labs’ October 22 announcement.

The change lets a swap combine Uniswap pools with connected external venues in a single transaction. Uniswap Labs says trades routed through the external sources pay protocol fees that contribute to UNI burns.

External Liquidity Becomes Accessible Through v4

A hook is a smart-contract extension that adds functionality to a Uniswap v4 pool. Here, it acts as an adapter: a router can treat liquidity held at another venue as a v4 pool when constructing a trade.

Uniswap says its router retrieves fresh quotes from connected sources every block, then searches across those sources and its own pools for an efficient route. This can avoid requiring a user to visit multiple exchange interfaces to compare the same trade.

The official hook documentation identifies integrations including Curve, Fluid, PancakeSwap V3, Slipstream, Uniswap V2/V3-compatible pools and LitePSM.

The open-source repository also distinguishes implementations by pool type. Support in that repository should not be taken as a claim that every implementation is deployed on every launch network.

Automatic Web Routing, With an API Beta for Developers

The web app includes external sources automatically. For API builders, the release points to the Guidestar guide, which describes an opt-in beta routing engine using the existing Universal Router and Permit2 contracts.

During the beta, supported requests specify the amount of input tokens to sell and exchange two different tokens on the same chain. The documented networks are Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain. Cross-chain swaps and requests specifying an exact output amount are outside that beta’s supported scope.

The guide also says API configuration and current market conditions can produce a different quote from the web app. Broader liquidity access does not guarantee that every trade will use an outside venue or achieve a fixed improvement in price.

A Wider Fee Base for UNI Burns

The launch extends Uniswap’s fee-generating routes beyond liquidity originating in its own pools. The announcement connects protocol fees from the new external routes to UNI burning, without providing a burn total, a new universal fee rate or a guaranteed effect on UNI’s price.

CoinScreamer previously covered Uniswap’s Pools.trade launch on Robinhood Chain. Aggregator Hooks add a different capability: combining liquidity sources for swaps, rather than creating new tokens. Our network coverage provides context on Robinhood Chain’s wider DEX activity.
