Key Notes

  • Solana Labs launched Leap’s iPhone beta for crypto and tokenized assets, with Android still planned.
  • The app is unavailable in the UK, and stock and ETF tokens are unavailable to US persons and other ineligible users.
  • Leap has no platform fee at launch, while network and routing costs apply and fee-funded SOL burns remain a future plan.

Solana Labs has launched Leap, a mobile trading app that brings tokenized stocks, exchange-traded funds, metals, currencies and cryptocurrencies into a single interface on Solana.

The company announced the beta on November 5. Leap is a business under the Solana Labs umbrella, built by the former Dialect team, which joined earlier this year. Chris Osborn is its general manager.

An iPhone Beta With Regional Limits

Early access is available on iPhone through Apple’s TestFlight service. Android is planned, with no release date given. The launch announcement also directs prospective users to a waitlist.

Availability depends on location and the product being traded. Leap is unavailable in the United Kingdom and other restricted regions. Tokenized stocks and ETFs are unavailable to US persons and in certain other jurisdictions.

Those products also carry different rights from ordinary share ownership. Leap’s product disclosures say third parties issue the tokens to follow underlying asset prices. They do not provide direct ownership, voting rights, dividends or other shareholder benefits, and their prices can diverge from the assets they reference.

Spot Swaps and Portfolio Tracking

Leap executes spot trades as onchain swaps, with Jupiter handling trade routing. Helius supplies infrastructure and Birdeye provides market data. The company advertises round-the-clock trading subject to restrictions, while access to individual assets and features varies by location.

The product website emphasizes curated market news and detailed profit-and-loss tracking. News events are placed on charts, while position returns and breakeven prices account for deposits, withdrawals, trades and fees. The disclosures note that missing or delayed market and wallet data can affect those calculations.

Leap describes the app as self-custodial. It says it does not hold users’ assets or private keys, while third-party provider Privy generates and secures wallet keys. Users remain responsible for their login method and recovery arrangements.

Future Fees Could Fund SOL Burns

Leap charges no platform fee at launch, although network and routing costs still apply and are displayed before a trade. That leaves a distinction between no Leap fee and a transaction with no costs.

The company plans to use future fees for SOL purchases and burns, alongside a referral-reward program. Those are plans for a later fee model; the announcement does not establish that fee-funded burns have started or specify a fixed buyback allocation.

Another Interface for Solana’s Asset Markets

The launch adds a consumer trading interface to Solana’s expanding range of tokenized products. CoinScreamer recently covered Securitize’s expansion to 25 stock tokens and PreStocks trading on Pump.fun.

Those offerings have their own issuers, access rules and legal structures. Their appearance in the same blockchain ecosystem does not establish a Leap integration. For this beta, the immediate development is a new route to onchain markets, with its reach defined by device availability, geography and the terms of each token.
