Key Notes
- Eligible US businesses can send stablecoins to external wallets in more than 160 markets.
- The public preview supports USDC and Open USD but excludes businesses in New York.
- Wallet payout fees combine a fixed charge with a percentage of the transfer.
US businesses can send stablecoin payments directly to recipients’ external crypto wallets in more than 160 markets through Stripe Global Payouts, bringing blockchain transfers into the payment company’s business finance tools.
The service is in public preview and excludes businesses based in New York. Stripe’s payout documentation says companies can fund transfers from a US dollar or USDC balance in their financial account, with conversion when the funding and destination currencies differ.
USDC and Open USD Reach External Wallets
Recipients can receive USDC across nine listed networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base and Polygon. Open USD, or OUSD, is supported on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo. Wallets must support the chosen token and network; geographic coverage does not make every wallet compatible.
Stripe says transfers typically arrive within minutes, although network conditions can delay receipt. Businesses can manage payouts in the Dashboard or build them into their own software, rather than requiring each recipient to receive the money into a Stripe payments balance first.
OUSD is the Open USD stablecoin from Open Standard. Stripe made OUSD its default stablecoin on September 30 while retaining alternative choices. That rollout extended across Treasury, cards and other products, following the broader Open USD launch backed by payment and crypto companies.
A Fixed Charge Plus a Percentage Fee
Stripe’s published pricing lists a charge of $0.50 plus 0.5% of the amount for stablecoin wallet payouts. On a $1,000 payment, those two components add up to $5.50.
A separate Global Payouts platform fee applies after the first $1 million of monthly volume across all rails: 0.05% of volume above that allowance. The quoted wallet fee therefore is not necessarily the entire cost for a business operating at scale.
Part of a Broader Payments Expansion
Global Payouts is separate from Connect stablecoin payouts, a private preview for US platforms and marketplaces. That service starts with USDC, keeps the platform’s balance in fiat and currently supports individual recipients and sole proprietors rather than companies or nonprofits.
The 160-market reach was already part of Stripe’s October 16 update. Stripe positioned the wider payout service for uses such as remittances, loan disbursements and investment withdrawals, alongside traditional currency transfers.
The wallet option also complements Stripe’s separate Plasma card partnership. Cards make balances spendable at merchants; wallet payouts let businesses deliver dollar-linked tokens to recipients who choose to hold or move them onchain.
