Standard Chartered-backed Anchorpoint Financial has shifted the public rollout of its Hong Kong dollar-pegged stablecoin, HKDAP, into August 2026 after missing earlier Q2 and end-of-July target timelines. Mary Huen, CEO for Standard Chartered Hong Kong, Greater China, and North Asia, confirmed that a formal commercial announcement is expected within the month as development continues following initial licensing.
Anchorpoint secured its stablecoin issuer license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in April 2026 under the city’s Stablecoins Ordinance. Each HKDAP token will be backed 1:1 by Hong Kong dollar reserves held in segregated accounts. Ahead of commercial launch, the team completed production-ready Ethereum mainnet settlement trials alongside licensed platforms OSL Group and PantherTrade.
Rather than issuing tokens directly to retail consumers, Anchorpoint is adopting a business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) distribution model. The company will appoint recognized corporate distributors—expected to serve small-to-medium enterprises, fund managers, and institutional traders, with official partner agreements set to be finalized immediately following the formal launch announcement. The stablecoin primarily aims to resolve traditional cross-border settlement bottlenecks by providing 24/7 liquidity and acting as a settlement asset for tokenized real-world assets.
