Robinhood Markets has expanded its derivatives ecosystem by partnering with Crypto.com and sports-focused derivatives venue OG.com to route event contracts ahead of the professional football season and the 2026 US midterm elections. Effective September 8, Robinhood will begin directing select football event contracts through Crypto.com’s CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse, operating as Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA), as well as its specialized trader platform OG.com.

As part of the strategic agreement, Robinhood will acquire equity stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com following the latter’s planned corporate spin-off into an independent entity. The equity transactions are priced in line with Citadel Securities’ benchmark investment in Crypto.com Group, valuation-benchmarked at $20 billion.

The alliance introduces additional execution infrastructure for Robinhood’s event contracts, which are currently routed across CFTC-regulated venues including Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera, a joint venture established with Susquehanna International Group in June. By integrating OG.com and CDNA into its order-routing architecture, Robinhood aims to improve order book liquidity, reduce execution spreads, and ensure operational resilience across high-volume trading windows.

Football Hub Redesign and US Midterms Infrastructure

To support the expansion, Robinhood has launched an overhauled sports trading interface tailored for professional and college football. The platform introduces custom contract combinations, game outcome derivatives, and specialized player performance metrics. The updated trading hub allows users to filter event contracts by week, conference, and team, with plans to integrate real-time player statistics and standing data later this autumn. Football-related contracts will be dynamically routed across OG.com, Kalshi, and Rothera based on liquidity depth and exchange availability.

Concurrently, Robinhood unveiled a dedicated election hub to capture trading volume surrounding the 2026 US midterm elections. The updated hub features interactive state-by-state heat maps, allowing retail investors to monitor real-time candidate probabilities and polling shifts across federal and state races. Following poll closures on election night, the platform will stream near real-time voting results alongside progress metrics showing the percentage of expected votes counted.

While election contracts are initially routed through Kalshi and Rothera, Robinhood expects to expand political contract routing to Crypto.com and OG.com in subsequent weeks.

Surge in Retail Volume Drives Prediction Market Expansion

The strategic expansion reflects historic volume growth within Robinhood’s prediction markets division. Since introducing event contracts roughly two years ago, the brokerage has processed over 45 billion cumulative trades, with more than 30 billion executed in 2026 through the end of August. During the second quarter alone, users traded 13.6 billion event contracts, boosted by international sporting events such as the World Cup, which generated over 5 billion trades on the platform.

The rapid adoption of binary event contracts underscores a broader structural shift in retail derivatives, where event-based hedging and speculative trading have outpaced traditional products. Executives from both firms indicated that adding OG.com’s clearing infrastructure establishes the liquidity foundation necessary to expand beyond event contracts into institutional futures and perpetual derivatives in future phases.
