Publicly listed Bitcoin mining operations delivered mixed production results for August 2026, with BitFuFu and CleanSpark reporting operational rebounds while Canaan experienced continued output contraction.
BitFuFu recorded the strongest month-over-month recovery, generating 174 BTC in August to mark a 55.4% increase over its 112 BTC output in July. The rebound was propelled by a 45.1% expansion in total managed hashrate, which reached 20.6 EH/s as capacity commitments secured earlier in the summer fully deployed. The company’s cloud mining segment led the surge by more than doubling its monthly yield to 86 BTC, while self-mining operations expanded output by 22% to 88 BTC. BitFuFu ended August with 1,373 BTC in reserve, solidifying its rank as the 39th-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin treasury.
CleanSpark maintained steady operational execution, producing 593 BTC in August. It was a minor increase over the 586 BTC mined in July. The company’s year-to-date production reached 4,903 BTC, valued at over $386 million. CleanSpark’s total Bitcoin reserves decreased slightly to 13,703 BTC at month-end, following spot market sales of 77 BTC, option call exercises totaling 500 BTC, and 244 BTC allocated toward basis trades. Beyond core mining metrics, CleanSpark highlighted ongoing development at its Sandersville data center campus alongside securing conditional ERCOT classifications for 885 MW of power capacity across its Texas facilities. CleanSpark remains the ninth-largest public Bitcoin treasury holder.
Canaan faced its third consecutive monthly production decline, mining 44 BTC in August compared to 46 BTC in July and 64 BTC in June. Parallel to its operational slowdown, Canaan executed significant treasury adjustments, liquidating its entire balance of 3,952 ETH alongside 54 BTC to raise approximately $13.9 million in capital. The firm deployed $5.4 million of the proceeds to repurchase 13.6 million American Depositary Shares. Canaan closed the month holding 1,868 BTC and zero Ethereum reserves, ranking as the 35th-largest public corporate Bitcoin holder.
