Bitcoin Recovery Faces Weak Spot Demand, CryptoQuant Contributor Says

XWIN Japan’s analysis shared by CryptoQuant finds uneven Bitcoin demand and accumulation, with the largest holder cohort reducing its net balance.

Key Notes

  • The report’s 30-day spot-demand growth turned negative while perpetual-futures demand remained positive.
  • Exchange reserves rose from early-October levels, although transfers do not prove completed sales.
  • The 60-day holder chart shows uneven accumulation rather than the same behavior across all whale groups.

Bitcoin’s rebound still needs a broader base of buyers, according to XWIN Japan’s analysis shared by CryptoQuant on October 19. Its charts show negative spot-demand growth, a recent increase in exchange reserves and declining net holdings among the largest Bitcoin holder group.

The Quicktake report nevertheless describes an uneven recovery rather than the disappearance of support. Smaller whale cohorts are behaving differently from the largest holders, and positive perpetual-futures demand is helping the aggregate demand measure. CryptoQuant shared the contributor’s assessment through its official X account.

Spot demand and exchange balances test the rebound

The report’s 30-day demand-growth chart shows the spot component approaching zero before turning negative again, while perpetual-futures demand remains positive. The author distinguishes this breakdown from CryptoQuant’s separate Apparent Demand measure; the two should not be compared as though they were the same series.

A negative demand-growth reading does not mean no one is buying Bitcoin. It describes the direction of a particular estimated measure over its stated window, not the absence of spot trading. Similarly, demand for a perpetual contract is exposure through a derivative, rather than necessarily an outright purchase of the underlying coin.

Exchange reserves have risen from roughly 2.67 million BTC in early October to around 2.68 million, while remaining lower than in January. That makes the recent direction different from the longer-term level: a relatively low balance can still be increasing.

CryptoQuant’s metric guide defines exchange reserves as coins held in exchange addresses. That stock of coins is different from executed sell orders. It can indicate supply available to trade, but a transfer into an exchange wallet does not identify its owner’s next action. The report also notes that custody changes can affect the figures.

Large holders are not moving in lockstep

The 60-day holder chart puts the over-10,000 BTC group in negative territory. Holders of 100–1,000 BTC remain net accumulators, while the net decline for the 1,000–10,000 BTC cohort has narrowed toward zero.

These are rolling changes, not a record of transactions occurring only today. They include earlier activity, and transfers between size groups can affect the outcome. The chart therefore supports a comparison of aggregate balances rather than a claim that every large investor has made the same decision.

The price picture can improve before these broader signals align. CoinScreamer’s Monday market report covered Bitcoin’s advance alongside Asian stocks after stronger Chinese economic data. A session’s price gain and a multiweek demand indicator can move differently without either observation being invalid.

Today’s Strategy update supplies another distinction: a disclosed corporate purchase confirms buying by that company, but cannot by itself establish accumulation across the whole market. Company filings and holder-cohort estimates answer different questions.

XWIN Japan’s recovery thesis ultimately depends on persistent spot buying, absorption of coins returning to exchanges and accumulation extending across more holder groups. The analysis sets out conditions for a stronger recovery; it does not supply a price target or a deadline for those conditions to appear.
