Key Notes

  • World has launched a finance-focused World ID suite combining its identity app, Zoom verification and agent credentials.
  • Five initial design partners are named, but the announcement does not identify a bank customer.
  • World ID for Zoom is available through the Zoom Marketplace while AgentKit remains in beta.

World, the identity project co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, has launched a World ID suite for banks and financial institutions, combining human verification, video-call checks and credentials for AI agents.

Blania introduced the offering at Money20/20 in Las Vegas on October 18. The package brings together the World ID app, World ID for Zoom and World ID for Agents, also called AgentKit, as the project’s first industry-specific offering, The Block reported.

World names Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital and VanEck Funds as initial design partners. Its announcement does not identify a bank customer.

Three checks for different financial tasks

The finance suite uses cryptographic proofs to answer different questions about the person behind an interaction. World describes applications ranging from account recovery and opening accounts to approving bank transfers.

  • Proof of Human establishes that someone is a real, unique person after a one-time verification with World’s Orb device.
  • Proof of Presence uses a live selfie on a phone to check that the person is present for a particular action.
  • Proof of Attributes confirms a requested fact from a government credential, such as age or nationality, rather than disclosing the full document.

The company says this approach can reduce how much personal information businesses need to collect and store. That is a claim about the product’s design, rather than a guarantee against identity fraud.

Zoom is available; agent tools remain in beta

World ID for Zoom is now available through the Zoom Marketplace after an earlier limited beta. In its Zoom announcement, World describes a system that matches the participant’s Orb verification image, a live selfie in the World ID app and a frame from the video call.

Successful verification displays a Human Badge on the participant’s Zoom tile. Organizations can set how long the badge remains active before another check is required. A waiting-room feature that would require verification before joining a meeting is planned, rather than already available.

AgentKit remains in beta. It is designed to let people delegate certain proofs to AI agents, so an automated service can demonstrate that it acts for a real person. This verifies the human relationship behind an agent; it does not turn the software itself into a human.

The launch adds another identity layer to financial workflows as firms address fraud and automated activity. CoinScreamer also covered Mastercard’s screening tool for stablecoin payments, which focuses on transaction risk rather than proving who is behind an interaction.
