Zcash developers have agreed on block 3,543,405 for NU7 mainnet activation, with Zakura’s upgrade dashboard estimating November 5. Sean Bowe’s October 20 proposal records the height agreed at a meeting of Zcash Improvement Proposal editors.
The rollout still has deployment work ahead. The proposal has two approvals but remained open when checked, while the published deployment specification still listed the mainnet height as undecided. Developers must complete the specification changes and include the selected height in compatible node software.
Under ZIP 218, NU7 cuts target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. Three confirmations would therefore take about 75 seconds on average instead of 225, assuming a service keeps the same confirmation requirement. Actual block intervals and payment-crediting times can vary.
Faster blocks do not mean three times as much new ZEC. Per-block mining subsidies are adjusted to preserve the issuance schedule. NU7 also removes 60% of transaction fees from circulation through the Network Sustainability Mechanism, which is intended to support future mining rewards.
The upgrade also disables version 4 transactions, making funds left in the legacy Sprout pool unspendable after activation. CoinScreamer’s earlier testnet coverage detailed the 25-second block trial, which began in early October. The new development is the agreed mainnet block, with November 5 remaining an estimated calendar date.
