Michael Saylor says the U.S. midterm election results show support for Bitcoin reserves across party lines. The Strategy executive chairman wrote on November 4 that voters in Florida and Texas had elected candidates who backed holding Bitcoin in government reserves.
Republican Byron Donalds won Florida’s governor’s race after supporting a federal reserve. As a U.S. representative, he introduced H.R. 2112 in March 2025 to give legal force to President Donald Trump’s executive order establishing the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate digital asset stockpile.
In Texas, Democrat James Talarico won a U.S. Senate seat after previously supporting a state reserve. The Texas House’s voting record lists him among lawmakers who voted to advance SB 21 on May 20, 2025.
That legislation established the Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve as a special fund outside the state treasury, managed by the comptroller. Saylor linked the two election outcomes with a broader message: “The case for holding Bitcoin crosses party lines.”
The federal reserve debate also includes how to expand government holdings. In October, the White House described work on budget-neutral acquisitions, with legal reviews and funding mechanisms still under consideration at the time.
