Ethereum Economic Zone developers unveiled Rollup X at Devcon 8 in Mumbai on November 4, demonstrating how rollup applications can access Ethereum mainnet liquidity within one transaction. Gnosis co-founder Friederike Ernst outlined the tests in an announcement.
In the CoW Swap demonstration, a user signed an order on Rollup X. Solvers filled it against liquidity on Ethereum mainnet, and the purchased tokens arrived back on the rollup in the same transaction. The process required one signature and avoided a separate bridge transfer.
The EEZ framework lets a contract on Ethereum or a participating rollup call another network’s contract and use its response immediately. Execution is atomic, meaning all parts succeed together or the transaction reverts. The design aims to reconnect liquidity spread across separate networks.
Other demonstrations synchronized Safe wallet ownership changes across mainnet and Rollup X. A further test verified a Falcon post-quantum signature on the rollup to authorize a Safe transfer on Ethereum.
Rollup X remains a test network, and Gnosis says the core protocol is undergoing an independent security audit. It is currently unsuitable for holding significant value. Gnosis Chain plans to join the EEZ in spring 2027.
