Hong Kong-licensed cryptocurrency exchange HashKey announced on August 3 that JPMorgan Chase approved its application to open a segregated client funds account. The agreement provides the platform with a direct international banking route for customer money segregation and US dollar settlement. HashKey stated it is the first licensed digital asset exchange in Asia to receive approval for this specific account tier with JPMorgan, which previously acted as a joint sponsor for parent company HashKey Holdings’ December 2025 Hong Kong initial public offering.

Under regulations set by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), licensed virtual asset trading platforms must hold foreign currency client funds in segregated accounts denominated in the exact same currency. The JPMorgan approval follows the June 30 activation of a separate fiat customer funds account with DBS Bank, giving HashKey parallel access to major Asian and global banking networks.

While the approval marks an operational milestone for HashKey’s institutional expansion, the exchange has not disclosed commercial terms, expected balance thresholds, or an exact activation date for live customer deposits and withdrawals. The account does not alter HashKey’s regulatory scope or permit services to restricted US residents, functioning strictly as a regulated fiat settlement channel for eligible exchange users.
