Arthur Hayes says major crypto bull runs begin by climbing a “wall of worry,” as investors grapple with threats and uncertainty. In an October 8 post, the BitMEX co-founder framed today’s AI-related security concerns as the latest example.
His comparison spans Bitcoin’s block-size disputes in 2017, the COVID-19 shock in 2020 and the aftermath of FTX’s collapse alongside rising central-bank policy rates in 2023. The pattern reflects Hayes’s view that strong rallies can develop while sentiment remains fearful.
His 2026 example is anxiety about AI threatening cryptographic protection. That debate follows Justin Drake’s wallet-key warning and developers’ work toward quantum-resistant payments. Hayes offers a market interpretation of those fears; his post does not demonstrate that wallet cryptography has been broken.
“Money shall be printed, bags shall pump,” Hayes wrote, expressing his expectation that renewed money creation will lift crypto holdings. A wall of worry describes prices rising despite persistent concerns. His statement is a forecast, rather than an announced monetary-policy decision.
The argument echoes the liquidity-led outlook behind his earlier ETH forecast, covered by CoinScreamer, which reaffirmed a $10,000 year-end Ethereum target. The latest post adds no specific Bitcoin price target or deadline for a rally, and does not establish that further monetary expansion is assured.
