Key Notes
- Western Union has selected Noah to build USDPT payouts into a recipient’s digital wallet.
- USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana and already launched in May.
- Receiver Redirect’s start date, initial markets and customer pricing have not been disclosed.
Western Union has selected Noah to build a stablecoin remittance service that would let recipients receive international money transfers as USDPT in a digital wallet, rather than immediately collecting local currency.
The planned service, Receiver Redirect, uses Western Union’s dollar-denominated token on Solana. Noah’s October 20 announcement describes the partnership, but does not give a commercial launch date or an initial country list.
Western Union’s network reaches more than 200 countries and territories. That distribution footprint should be distinguished from availability of the new payout option: the company’s own product page describes receiving transfers in USDPT as coming soon in select markets.
Receiving digital dollars instead of cash
Under the proposed flow, a sender would use Western Union’s agent network and the recipient would collect the value as USDPT in a Stablecard wallet. Recipients could retain the digital-dollar balance instead of converting it immediately into their local currency.
Noah says its role includes the treasury and licensing infrastructure used to pre-fund, convert and distribute USDPT. Its announcement describes support for more than 60 currencies, while the payout token itself remains denominated in US dollars.
The customer-facing change is the form in which a transfer arrives. It connects a conventional remittance payment with a wallet balance that can be held digitally, rather than requiring the recipient to take cash at a counter as the immediate endpoint.
USDPT is already live on Solana
The partnership builds on an existing token, rather than announcing a new stablecoin launch. USDPT went live in May, as CoinScreamer previously reported.
Anchorage Digital’s May 4 release identified USDPT as a settlement asset for Western Union’s wider digital infrastructure. It described uses in internal treasury operations, a Digital Asset Network for partners, and consumer spending services.
Receiver Redirect would extend that infrastructure to the destination of an ordinary money transfer. Launching the underlying token and enabling a new customer payout route are separate milestones; the former does not establish that the latter is already available.
USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., a US national trust bank. Western Union says it is redeemable one-for-one for dollars and backed by reserves including bank deposits, US Treasury bills and similar cash equivalents. The company also states that the token is not US-government guaranteed or FDIC-insured.
Launch markets and pricing remain undisclosed
The companies position stablecoin infrastructure as a way to reduce delays and costs. They have not published Receiver Redirect’s customer fees, exchange-rate terms or transfer limits, so the announcement does not establish a specific saving for any particular remittance corridor.
Solana provides the token’s blockchain infrastructure, while Noah is responsible for connecting treasury, conversion and distribution processes. A blockchain transfer time alone does not measure the complete journey from a sender’s payment to the recipient’s usable balance.
Western Union’s planned service also addresses a different stage of money movement from wallet spending initiatives such as Visa’s partnership with Mesh. Here, the immediate objective is to deliver a remittance into a digital-dollar wallet. The next practical details are when that option opens, which customers qualify and what they will pay.
