Robinhood Unveils AI Agents and 10x Crypto Perpetuals for US Customers
Robinhood brings AI agents into its app and announces US crypto perpetuals, with phased access and recurring automation still to come.
Key Notes
- Robinhood is phasing in access to in-app AI agents and crypto perpetuals.
- Bitcoin and Ether perpetuals have a 10x leverage limit, versus 3× for six other assets.
- Loops, the feature for recurring around-the-clock agent tasks, remains coming soon.
Robinhood has unveiled in-app AI trading agents and crypto perpetual futures for eligible US customers, with leverage of up to 10x on Bitcoin and Ether. The products were part of the company’s September 29 HOOD Summit announcements in Houston.
Availability is being phased in. Robinhood’s help center lists agents and perpetuals as beginning to roll out, while its event announcement describes agents as coming soon and perpetuals as arriving in the coming months. Customers will be notified when their accounts receive access. The recurring automation feature called Loops remains marked as coming soon.
AI Agents Move Into the App
Robinhood Agents lets customers choose an AI model and use everyday language to research investments, examine holdings and submit trading instructions. According to the product overview, the full experience is available through the mobile app. Agents can work with charts, tables and watchlists, with supported assets including equities, options and crypto, subject to account eligibility.
Trading is confined to a dedicated account funded by the customer, even though an agent can view information from other Robinhood accounts. Trade approvals are enabled by default. Disabling them permits eligible orders without a separate confirmation each time, although some transactions can still require approval.
The planned Loops feature would add recurring instructions, allowing agents to research and trade continuously or on a schedule. That is the basis for the around-the-clock automation pitch; it is distinct from simply opening a chat and asking an agent to perform a task.
The in-app experience builds on Robinhood’s earlier rollout of tools for connecting external agents. That May launch used Model Context Protocol connections and initially supported equities in beta. Customers can still connect external agents, while the new interface brings agent creation directly into Robinhood.
Bitcoin and Ether Perpetuals Get a 10x Limit
The announced perpetual futures lineup covers BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK and HYPE. Bitcoin and Ether contracts will support up to 10x leverage, with a 3× ceiling for the other six assets. The contracts allow long or short positions without an expiration date.
Robinhood says the products will be offered by Robinhood Derivatives through Bitstamp. Planned controls include stop-loss and take-profit orders, liquidation-price tracking and alerts when a position is at risk. The announcement sets a promotional trading fee of one basis point, or 0.01%, through year-end.
The company’s disclosures say perpetual futures accounts do not have SIPC insurance protection. Leverage increases exposure relative to the funds committed and can magnify losses as well as gains. The availability of order controls does not remove those risks.
Account Access and Automation Remain Separate
The announcements do not establish that every eligible customer can already run an unattended AI strategy across all eight perpetual contracts. Robinhood’s agent documentation lists equities, options and crypto, while the perpetuals announcement describes a separate derivatives offering. Customers must check both product access and the permissions available to their agent.
Robinhood also cautions that agents can misread instructions or act on incomplete information. A dedicated account limits where the software can trade, but users remain responsible for its actions and for monitoring positions. The new interface reduces the setup involved in using an agent; it does not establish that an automated strategy will be profitable.
