Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has expanded its operational infrastructure in Singapore by enabling native deposits and withdrawals of XRP via the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network. Announced by co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Tyler Winklevoss, the integration allows eligible Singapore-based users to transfer XRP directly between their exchange accounts and external self-custody wallets or third-party platforms. Prior to this update, local users were restricted to internal platform transactions, spot trading, and custodial storage.
The feature rollout introduces native blockchain transfer capabilities without altering existing fee schedules, trading pairs, or minimum account requirements. Gemini reminded users to carefully verify network parameters, recipient addresses, and mandatory destination tags, warning that misdirected transactions over unsupported networks could result in permanent loss of funds. A minor operational interruption previously affecting XRPL services was resolved prior to the Singapore deployment, with no active network outages reported.
Strategic Focus on Singapore and Regulatory Positioning
The expansion of XRP services underscores Singapore’s role as a primary international anchor for Gemini. Following a corporate restructuring in early 2026, the company consolidated its global operations around the United States and Singapore, subsequently unwinding services across the United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia while reducing its global workforce by up to 200 roles.
Gemini’s local entity, Gemini Digital Payments Singapore, secured in-principle approval for a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in October 2024. While the final license application remains under review, the exchange continues to align its infrastructure with local regulatory standards. Concurrent regulatory approvals granted to Ripple by MAS have further solidified the institutional presence of XRP-based infrastructure within the jurisdiction.
Broader Integration of XRP and Ripple Products
The native XRPL integration represents the latest phase in Gemini’s ongoing expansion of Ripple-related financial products across its ecosystem.
In July, Gemini integrated XRP into its derivatives cross-collateral pool alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Tether, and Gemini Dollar, allowing institutional and qualified traders to utilize XRP balances to meet margin requirements.
In partnership with Ripple, Gemini maintains an XRP rewards program on the Gemini Credit Card for eligible US cardholders, offering up to 4 percent back on select transit and fuel categories.
Gemini enabled deposits and withdrawals for Ripple USD (RLUSD) on both XRPL and Ethereum in December 2025, while participating in pilot initiatives alongside Mastercard and WebBank to evaluate stablecoin settlement mechanisms for card issuance.
While market reaction to the Singapore announcement remained neutral with no immediate asset price movements recorded, the integration enhances operational flexibility for local traders holding a portfolio of over 70 supported digital assets.
