Bitcoin fell below $81,000 on October 8, reaching an intraday low of about $80,315 on Coinbase, according to the exchange’s price data. It later recovered to roughly $81,815 at 20:15 UTC, its trade feed showed.

The decline came amid heavy losses for leveraged traders. CoinGlass showed approximately $1.16 billion in marketwide liquidations over the preceding 24 hours at 20:14 UTC, including $1.05 billion in long positions. Those totals cover crypto markets broadly, rather than Bitcoin alone.

Separately, CryptoQuant reported that extreme Bitcoin miner outflows have been absent since August 21, when BTC reached $76,000 and its profitability indicator shifted from extremely underpaid to fairly paid. The firm said this eased a persistent source of selling pressure during the 2026 bear market.

The miner-flow signal does not establish that every miner has stopped selling. Glassnode highlighted large buy orders near $81,000 after a rejection around $86,500, identifying potential support. Order-book bids can change, however, and do not guarantee that a price level will hold.

The pullback follows Bitcoin’s brief $87,000 rally on October 2 after a weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs report. Thursday’s move shows that easing miner pressure has not insulated BTC from volatility, while the latest liquidation snapshot underscores the losses suffered by traders positioned for rising prices.
