X Launches Cashtag Partner Program for Trading Stocks and Cryptocurrencies

By adding a dedicated "Trade" button to stock, ETF, and crypto price pages, X now acts as a direct gateway to major brokerages and exchanges, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini.

Social network X has launched the Cashtag Partner Program in the US, significantly expanding how financial discussions, live charts, and market data connect to real-world trading. The new functionality adds a dedicated trade button to asset pages, allowing users to transition directly from viewing posts and market quotes to executing trades through partner brokerages and crypto exchanges.

Initial launch partners for the program span both traditional finance and digital assets, featuring Interactive Brokers and Moomoo for stocks and ETFs alongside Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase for cryptocurrencies.

Under the integration, X serves strictly as a discovery gateway rather than an executing venue. Transactions do not take place inside the X app or website. Instead, order execution, customer onboarding, identity verification, and asset custody remain entirely under the care of the selected partner exchange or broker. The launch follows an August announcement by former X head of product Nikita Bier, who previewed the arrival of embedded trade buttons for digital assets and securities while clarifying that X would utilize third-party execution partners rather than operating a proprietary brokerage.

Seamless Order Routing and Platform Expansion

The trade-routing process integrates directly into X’s existing financial interface. When a user taps a supported cashtag within their X feed, the platform opens a dedicated asset page featuring live price charts and relevant community discussions. Selecting the trade button prompts the user to choose from the list of supported partner brokers or crypto venues, at which point X redirects them to the partner’s mobile app or web platform to log in and complete the order.

The initiative builds upon X’s earlier rollout of Smart Cashtags, which introduced interactive ticker tracking and token contract address lookups directly into user posts. By converting ticker symbols into actionable trading gateways, X is attempting to bridge the gap between real-time social sentiment and market participation.

For participating brokerages and exchanges, the integration positions X as a massive customer acquisition channel, giving them direct access to millions of active retail traders, equity investors, and crypto enthusiasts. This feature forms part of a broader push to transform X into an everything app alongside the ongoing development of the X Money payments framework.
