NEAR Intents halted services after a security incident caused an estimated $3.8 million loss. The team said a bug in how Omni’s deposit and withdrawal infrastructure interacted with the NEAR Intents smart contract was responsible, and pledged full compensation.

The contract vulnerability has been patched, according to the October 1 statement. Posted at 12:53 UTC, it estimated NEAR Intents and near.com would resume within an hour. The official status page still listed a 1Click API incident when checked before publication.

Deposits and withdrawals on 11 networks were expected to remain unavailable for roughly another 12 hours while Omni infrastructure fixes were completed. The statement named BSC, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, LayerX, ADI, Scroll and Plasma.

Users holding assets from those networks inside NEAR Intents, including through HOT wallet and near.com, would be able to swap them into other assets once the service restarted, the team said. That functionality would return ahead of the affected deposit and withdrawal routes.

The incident has been reported to law enforcement, with security and blockchain analytics partners helping trace funds and pursue recovery. A detailed report is expected in the coming days. Separately, MetaMask disclosed an infrastructure incident that prompted precautionary staking-validator exits.
