Blockchain security firm CertiK has joined LF Decentralized Trust, the Linux Foundation’s umbrella organization for open-source decentralized technologies. Under the membership, CertiK plans to contribute formal verification, security research, and auditing expertise to open-source protocols used across institutional financial systems and enterprise infrastructure.
Operating as a vendor-neutral community within the Linux Foundation, LF Decentralized Trust provides open-source governance for decentralized infrastructure across banking, supply chain, and government sectors. CertiK joins as part of a new quarterly intake of ecosystem members, seeking to embed security testing directly into early-stage open-source development workflows.
The membership builds on prior collaboration between CertiK researchers and the maintainers of Hyperledger Besu, an Ethereum execution client hosted under LF Decentralized Trust. In August, CertiK disclosed independent security research identifying five node vulnerabilities in Besu, spanning RPC, peer-to-peer, and consensus-facing interfaces, which were patched in version 26.7.1 ahead of public advisories. Besu powers production environments for major institutional deployments, including the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) tokenized collateral platform.
The move coincides with expanding public-sector engagement for CertiK, following a recent memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding security oversight for its Digital Som CBDC initiative.
