Crypto asset manager Bitwise announced that it will liquidate and close its spot Dogecoin exchange-traded fund, the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF (BWOW), approximately 10 months after its November 2025 launch. The last day of trading on the New York Stock Exchange is expected to be Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Shareholders may sell their holdings on the open market through the final trading date. On October 22, remaining investors will automatically receive a cash distribution representing the net asset value (NAV) of their shares calculated as of October 21. No action is required from shareholders during the liquidation process.
In an official release, Bitwise stated that the decision to liquidate the fund was made to optimize its broader product offerings in response to evolving investor demand. Despite initial market enthusiasm and a strong debut generating roughly $3 million in first-day trading volume, BWOW failed to sustain commercial momentum. The broader market for spot Dogecoin products has struggled to capture sustained capital, recording modest net inflows of approximately $318,000 in August following outflows in July.
