UMX, the Unified Market Exchange incubated by Li Lin’s Avenir Group, launched an invitation-only public beta on August 10 targeting global professional investors. The platform combines cryptocurrency spot, derivatives, and margin trading with direct access to real US stocks, ETFs, fractional shares, and options, spanning premarket, regular, after-hours, and overnight trading sessions.

Unlike platforms relying on Contracts for Difference (CFDs) or purely synthetic price-tracking derivatives, UMX states that its securities offerings represent actual underlying US shares. The platform’s architecture is built around fluid capital movement between digital assets and traditional financial markets rather than isolating the two asset classes.

Cross-Asset Capital Bridging and Collateral Mechanisms

The core functionality of UMX relies on unified cross-asset management tools. Through its “Exchange Transfer” feature, investors can instantly convert stablecoins like USDT into US dollars to fund securities accounts. Additionally, the “Loan Transfer” mechanism enables non-stablecoin crypto assets to serve as collateral, granting users purchasing power to trade traditional stocks and options.

UMX also introduced a “Shares to Token” feature, which converts stock holdings into corresponding tokenized representations. These tokens can be pledged directly toward crypto account margin requirements at applicable discount rates, allowing traders to maximize capital efficiency across both ecosystem arms. Detailed custody architecture and underlying blockchain specifications remain subject to future disclosures.

Backed by Institutional Digital Asset Capital

UMX’s incubation by Avenir Group aligns with the investment firm’s broader strategy of integrating traditional finance with digital asset infrastructure. According to SEC filings, Avenir held over 18.27 million shares of the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) valued at approximately $702.2 million as of late March, solidifying its position as a major institutional holder of Bitcoin exposure.

The rollout reflects a wider trend among global exchanges moving to merge digital assets with legacy securities infrastructure. While the beta is currently restricted to invited professional clients, UMX plans a broader release as regulatory approvals and jurisdiction-specific frameworks are finalized.
