Key Notes
- Strategy bought 250 BTC for approximately $21.5 million, taking its Bitcoin holdings to 848,250 BTC as of October 11.
- The company repurchased about 1.93 million STRC preferred shares for $192.4 million, alongside common-share issuance that funded most of its Bitcoin purchase.
- Strategy reported a $4.88 billion USD Reserve for dividends and debt interest, separate from $640.5 million of USD Cash for broader treasury purposes.
Strategy bought 250 Bitcoin for approximately $21.5 million last week while spending $192.4 million to repurchase its STRC preferred shares. The transactions brought its Bitcoin holdings to 848,250 BTC as the company continued balancing treasury accumulation with management of its outstanding securities.
The company disclosed the figures on October 12, covering activity from October 5 through October 11. Most of the Bitcoin purchase was financed by sales of MSTR common shares, with a smaller contribution from its separate US dollar cash account.
The preferred-share buyback was almost nine times the reported Bitcoin purchase cost. It illustrates the two sides of Strategy’s capital allocation: adding to its digital-asset holdings and buying back securities that carry dividend commitments.
Strategy’s Bitcoin Holdings Reach 848,250 BTC
The latest purchase had an average price of $86,194 per Bitcoin, including fees and expenses. Strategy reported an aggregate acquisition cost of approximately $64 billion for its full treasury, with an average purchase price of $75,444 per coin.
Those figures describe the cost of acquisitions, rather than the treasury’s current market value. The weekly purchase average also reflects transactions across the reporting period; it is not a live Bitcoin quote at the time of Monday’s announcement.
Strategy’s update identifies $21 million of net proceeds from MSTR sales and $500,000 of USD Cash as funding for the Bitcoin purchases. The rounded dollar amounts in the release should not be used to reconstruct a more precise per-coin execution price than the company disclosed.
Common-Share Sales Supplied the Fresh Bitcoin Funding
Strategy sold 125,183 Class A common shares through its at-the-market offering program during the week, generating approximately $21 million after sales commissions. An at-the-market program allows a company to sell shares into the public market over time.
The company reported no sales of STRC, STRF, STRK or STRD preferred stock under those programs for the period. Its newest Bitcoin acquisition therefore came primarily from common-equity issuance, rather than a fresh sale of the preferred shares it was simultaneously buying back.
Issuance and repurchases have different effects on the capital structure. Selling common shares raises funds while increasing the common-share count; repurchasing preferred shares reduces the amount of that security outstanding. A rise in total Bitcoin holdings alone does not establish the change in Bitcoin represented by each common share.
STRC Repurchases Total $192.4 Million
Strategy acquired 1,932,145 STRC shares during the reporting week. Based on the rounded $192.4 million purchase cost, that implies an average of approximately $99.58 per share, a CoinScreamer calculation.
STRC, branded Stretch, is Strategy’s variable-rate perpetual preferred stock. Its $100 stated amount is a reference point for the company’s dividend and capital-management policies, rather than a guarantee of its trading price.
In its July buyback policy, Strategy said it intended to purchase STRC regularly while it traded below $100, with larger purchases at deeper discounts and a slower pace near that level. The company presented repurchases as a way to reduce future preferred-dividend requirements.
The October update reported $354.8 million remaining under its digital-credit securities repurchase program. It also showed no MSTR common-share repurchases during the week, with a separate $1 billion authorization still available for that stock.
The USD Reserve and USD Cash Serve Different Purposes
Strategy reported a USD Reserve of $4.88 billion and USD Cash of $640.5 million as of October 11. The reserve is intended to support preferred-stock dividends and interest payments, while USD Cash can be deployed for broader Bitcoin-treasury and capital-management purposes.
| Metric | As of October 11, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Bitcoin holdings | 848,250 BTC |
| Aggregate Bitcoin acquisition cost | Approximately $64 billion |
| Average Bitcoin acquisition price | $75,444 |
| USD Reserve | $4.88 billion |
| USD Cash | $640.5 million |
The distinction follows the company’s June capital framework. That policy restricted the reserve to dividends and debt interest, with other uses requiring board authorization, and introduced separate tools for securities repurchases and Bitcoin monetization.
CoinScreamer previously covered Strategy’s cash pool as it developed this approach. The latest balances are a dated snapshot of those two designated pools, rather than a complete statement of every cash account used by its operating business.
Accumulation Continues Alongside Capital Management
The latest report shows Bitcoin purchases and preferred-share repurchases occurring in the same week. It does not establish a fixed allocation between the two activities for subsequent periods.
Strategy’s stated buyback policy remains conditional on market prices, liquidity, available capital and legal requirements. Preferred dividends also depend on declaration by its board and are not guaranteed. Future updates will show how purchases, securities issuance and cash deployment change the company’s holdings and obligations.
