NFT marketplace OpenSea has announced the return of Solana NFT trading to its platform, marking the revival of non-EVM digital collectibles support four years after its initial 2022 beta testing. Following initial reports of the launch, OpenSea clarified that while Solana NFT trading is not yet active, support is expected to officially go live later this week. Once fully deployed, users will be able to buy, sell, and trade major Solana NFT collections, including Mad Lads, Claynosaurz, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt, and Phygitals. The integration builds upon the platform’s multi-chain overhaul under its OS2 architecture, which first introduced support for Solana fungible tokens in April 2025. Solana remains OpenSea’s primary non-EVM network alongside an extensive lineup of EVM-compatible chains, including Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Monad, Sei, and Berachain.

The upcoming rollout comes at a pivotal time for the digital collectibles industry, which continues to navigate significantly reduced trading volumes compared to historical peaks. Competitors like Magic Eden and Tensor historically captured the majority of Solana NFT volume, with Magic Eden recently shutting down its Bitcoin and EVM marketplaces to focus exclusively on Solana. Meanwhile, several rival platforms, including Binance NFT, Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT, and X2Y2, have either scaled back or shuttered operations entirely in recent months. By adding native support for Solana, OpenSea aims to consolidate multi-chain liquidity and provide a unified trading hub as the broader market continues to consolidate.
