Elon Musk warned that future superintelligent AI agents could exploit financial systems to acquire money for themselves rather than for people. He made the prediction on October 30 while replying to a discussion of the Binance security incident.

Musk’s comment focused on agents acting for their own purposes, rather than tools carrying out a human attacker’s instructions. He gave no timetable for when such capabilities might emerge and supplied no technical evidence that an AI agent was involved in the Binance incident.

The reply addressed a post by BLANEY alleging that the attacker used stablecoins as collateral to borrow Ether through Aave. That account remains an unverified claim in the discussion; Musk’s response does not independently substantiate the borrowing sequence or any resulting losses for Aave.

Aave had separately issued a precautionary notice explaining that some markets may be frozen because of the Binance incident. The notice described temporary restrictions on new supplies and borrowing, without confirming the collateral-and-borrowing account in the post Musk answered.

The warning follows Musk’s earlier zero-day remark about Binance-related reports. His latest message expands on potential risks from autonomous AI, while leaving the cause of the actual theft and any role for AI to technical investigators.
