Mt. Gox has extended its creditor repayment deadline by another year to October 31, 2027, Japan Standard Time. Rehabilitation trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi confirmed the court-approved change in an October 16 notice, replacing the previous October 31, 2026 deadline.

The extension covers Base Repayment, Early Lump-Sum Repayment and Intermediate Repayment under the rehabilitation process. With exceptions for certain payment types, Kobayashi said these repayments were largely complete for creditors who had finished the required procedures and encountered no issues during processing.

Many other creditors remain unpaid because they have not completed the necessary procedures, the trustee said. A considerable number have also encountered problems during the repayment process. He sought the extension to make payments to those creditors wherever reasonably practicable.

This is the fourth consecutive annual extension. The official archive records the deadline moving from October 2023 to October 2024, then to October 2025 and October 2026 before the latest shift to October 2027. The new date extends the deadline rather than setting one payment day for every remaining creditor.

Mt. Gox distributions have previously featured in CoinScreamer’s Bitcoin market coverage, including concerns over possible selling during June’s downturn. The latest trustee notice does not announce a new Bitcoin transfer or sale, quantify the remaining holdings or establish when individual creditors will receive their outstanding repayments.
