Financial services giant Charles Schwab announced plans to expand its digital asset offerings within Schwab Crypto™ accounts, introducing spot trading for Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) in the coming months. The new token additions build upon the platform’s existing support for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which initially rolled out to eligible clients in May 2026.
According to Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, the expansion aims to provide investors with a broader selection of established digital assets while integrating trading alongside traditional investments. Schwab Crypto accounts permit clients to monitor and execute trades across Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and the thinkorswim® platform, accompanied by educational resources from the Schwab Center for Financial Research and 24/7 customer support.
Trading on the platform remains competitively priced at 75 basis points per transaction. Schwab indicated it intends to thoughtfully onboard additional digital assets over time, subject to ongoing market demand, operational considerations, and regulatory developments.
Cryptocurrency products on the platform are offered through Charles Schwab Premier Bank, SSB. Schwab emphasized that digital asset holdings are purely speculative, highly volatile, and are not protected by FDIC insurance or SIPC coverage. Schwab Crypto accounts are currently accessible to eligible US residents outside of New York and Louisiana.
