BitGo reported a $19 million Q2 net loss, driven by compressed trading margins and digital asset mark-to-market losses, despite an 80% revenue increase.

Publicly listed digital asset infrastructure provider BitGo reported a $19 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026, despite total revenue surging nearly 80% year-over-year to $4.3 billion. Although the net loss narrowed from $60.7 million in the first quarter and revenue grew 14.7% sequentially, an $18.8 million unrealized loss on digital asset holdings weighed heavily on overall earnings compared to a $55.8 million unrealized gain recorded in the same period last year.

BitGo Chief Executive Officer Mike Belshe acknowledged during the earnings call that quarterly financial performance fell short of internal expectations. He noted that profitability suffered due to compressed trading margins, narrower spreads on spot transactions, and a reduced revenue contribution from higher-margin derivative products.

To address profitability challenges, BitGo authorized a share repurchase program of up to $50 million and implemented cost-cutting initiatives expected to yield approximately $15 million in annualized cash savings. The firm reduced its headcount by 15% in June, which management anticipates will lower overall operating expenses heading into the third quarter. Following the release of the earnings report, BitGo shares dipped 1.8% in overnight trading to $4.90.
