BNB Foundation has completed BNB Chain’s 37th quarterly token burn, removing 1,646,196.44 BNB valued at approximately $1.197 billion. The October 19 announcement put the dollar estimate at $1,197,344,519.40 around the time of the burn, rather than describing cash spent on a market purchase.
The foundation reported remaining total supply of 131,512,085 BNB as of 10:05 UTC and linked the burn transaction. That leaves roughly 31.51 million tokens above the Auto-Burn program’s long-term target of 100 million BNB. Quarterly burns now take place directly on BNB Smart Chain.
The Auto-Burn formula adjusts the amount removed using BNB’s price and the number of blocks produced during a quarter. The foundation said its parameters have been adjusted following the Lorentz and Maxwell upgrades, which increased block frequency compared with when the formula was originally defined.
The mechanism operates independently of Binance’s centralized exchange. It is also separate from BEP-95, which burns a portion of gas fees collected in each BNB Smart Chain block. That ongoing fee burn depends on network activity, with its burn ratio determined through validator governance.
CoinScreamer recently covered another supply-policy proposal in the ecosystem: PancakeSwap’s planned CAKE emissions reduction. Lower issuance slows the addition of new tokens, whereas BNB’s completed quarterly burn permanently removes existing supply. The two mechanisms affect supply in different ways.
