Circle has partnered with Sasai Fintech to accelerate the adoption of USDC across African payment corridors. The collaboration focuses on improving cross-border transactions, remittances, and mobile wallet services by integrating USDC into Sasai’s existing infrastructure.

Sasai operates across multiple African markets, offering digital payment services for consumers and businesses. By combining its network with Circle’s blockchain-based systems, the companies aim to reduce transaction costs and settlement times, which remain high in many parts of the region.

Cross-border payments in Sub-Saharan Africa are among the most expensive globally, often exceeding 7% per transaction in some countries. The partnership seeks to address this challenge by leveraging stablecoins as a faster and more cost-efficient alternative to traditional financial rails.

Circle plans to deploy its full-stack platform to enable practical use cases for USDC, including enterprise payments and peer-to-peer transfers. The initiative aligns with broader global efforts to lower remittance costs and expand financial inclusion.

Africa has emerged as one of the fastest-growing regions for crypto adoption, driven by demand for affordable payment solutions and protection against currency volatility. Stablecoins like USDC are increasingly being used for everyday transactions, particularly in markets with limited access to traditional banking.

Despite being the second-largest stablecoin behind USDT issued by Tether, USDC continues to expand its footprint through partnerships targeting high-growth regions.

The partnership reflects a wider trend of crypto firms expanding into Africa, where mobile-first financial ecosystems are rapidly evolving. Increased regulatory clarity and rising transaction volumes are attracting global players looking to tap into the region’s growth.
