Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said a simplified distributed validator approach could make Ether staking easier for institutional participants. The Ethereum Foundation recently used a streamlined system known as DVT-lite to stake 72,000 ETH, according to comments shared by Buterin. The assets are currently in the validator entry queue awaiting activation on the network.

DVT-lite is a simplified version of distributed validator technology designed to reduce operational complexity. Unlike traditional staking setups that rely on a single node, the approach allows the same validator key to run across multiple machines. This configuration reduces the risk of downtime and slashing penalties if one node fails.

Buterin said simplifying staking infrastructure is important for decentralization and institutional participation. Demand for staking remains strong despite weaker price performance in the broader crypto market. More than 37 million ETH are currently staked across the Ethereum network, representing roughly 31% of the total supply.
