The Solana Foundation has introduced a series of new initiatives aimed at strengthening security across the Solana ecosystem. Announced in collaboration with Asymmetric Research, the programs are designed to improve risk monitoring, incident response, and overall trust in decentralized applications built on the network.
The move reflects growing awareness across the crypto industry that security remains a critical challenge, particularly as decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms continue to attract significant capital and user activity.
STRIDE Program Introduces Structured Security Evaluation
At the center of the announcement is STRIDE (Solana Trust, Resilience and Infrastructure for DeFi Enterprises). The program establishes a standardized framework for evaluating the security posture of projects operating within the ecosystem.
Under STRIDE, Asymmetric Research will independently assess protocols using its proprietary methodology. The results of these evaluations will be made publicly available, offering transparency for users and investors seeking to understand the risks associated with specific platforms.
Protocols that meet certain thresholds will receive additional benefits. Projects with more than $10 million in total value locked (TVL) that pass evaluation will gain access to ongoing operational security support and active threat monitoring funded by the foundation. Those exceeding $100 million in TVL will also be eligible for advanced tools such as formal smart contract verification.
Launch of Solana Incident Response Network
Alongside STRIDE, the foundation introduced the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN), a collaborative initiative bringing together leading security firms and researchers. Founding members include OtterSec and Neodyme, alongside Asymmetric Research.
SIRN is designed to provide rapid response capabilities in the event of vulnerabilities or active threats. While the network is open to all Solana-based protocols, priority access will be given to projects with higher TVL, reflecting the potential systemic impact of larger platforms.
This coordinated approach aims to reduce response times during incidents and create a more resilient security infrastructure across the ecosystem.
Balancing Support with Responsibility
Despite expanding its role in ecosystem security, the Solana Foundation emphasized that responsibility ultimately remains with individual project teams. The newly introduced tools and services are intended to complement—not replace—internal security practices.
Developers are still expected to conduct audits, maintain secure codebases, and implement best practices to protect user funds and data. The foundation’s initiatives instead act as an additional layer of defense, helping projects identify risks and respond more effectively.
Strengthening Trust in a Growing DeFi Landscape
As blockchain ecosystems mature, security has become a key differentiator influencing user adoption and institutional participation. By introducing structured evaluation through STRIDE and collaborative response via SIRN, Solana is positioning itself as a more secure environment for developers and investors alike.
The initiatives also align with broader industry efforts to standardize security practices and improve transparency. As more capital flows into decentralized applications, programs like STRIDE could play a crucial role in reducing systemic risk and building long-term confidence in the ecosystem.
