October Bottom? Peter Brandt Projects Cycle Floor for Bitcoin Amid Overvalued Tech Market

Peter Brandt has pinpointed October 4, 2026, as the expected cycle low for Bitcoin. He envisions a capitulation flush into the $40,000 range while favoring BTC over overextended AI equities.

Fifty-one-year trading veteran Peter Brandt has issued a specific timeline prediction for Bitcoin’s current market cycle, identifying October 4, 2026, as the exact date he expects BTC to establish a durable price floor. Despite Bitcoin hovering near $63,600, Brandt rejects the consensus view that $60,000 represents the cycle bottom.

According to Brandt, historical Bitcoin bear markets systematically resolve through capitulation, a violent phase marked by panic selling and elevated volume, rather than the neutral sentiment currently prevailing across crypto markets. He cautions that Bitcoin could break key support levels, dropping into the high-$40,000s or low-$50,000s before a true bottoming structure takes shape. Such a drawdown would align with Bitcoin’s historical trend of experiencing drawdowns exceeding 80% from peak cycle highs near $120,000.

Macro Resistance at $65K and Asset Allocation Shifts

While technical traders point to higher lows and eye upside targets near $67,500 and $69,000 in the coming weeks, overhead resistance around $65,000 continues to cap July price action. Beyond crypto market technicals, broader risk assets are contending with severe geopolitical friction in the Middle East alongside institutional tech-stock liquidation, where hedge funds have sold IT shares at a record 10-year pace.

Addressing multi-asset portfolio strategy, Brandt expressed skepticism toward the ongoing AI stock boom, warning that investors going all-in on AI equities today will likely be disappointed over a two- to three-year horizon. When asked how to deploy capital, he advocated for a 50/50 split between Bitcoin and precious metals.

Looking ahead, Brandt projects that Bitcoin’s next major cycle peak will not arrive until 2029, forecasting a target price between $250,000 and $300,000. That trajectory sets up a rapid final push toward the $1 million macro targets put forward by industry leaders Cathie Wood and Brian Armstrong for 2030.
